In this Metta Centre talk, Bhante Rakkhita Samanera will guide us through the themes of resilience, fresh starts, and facing life’s changes with courage. Life’s twists and turns challenge our stability, yet they can also be powerful opportunities for growth. Through personal anecdotes, humour, and practical exercises, Bhante Rakkhita explores ways to adapt to change, build inner strength, and manage fear.
Discover topics like “Fear: The Uninvited Guest,” where fear arrives unexpectedly, or “Survival of the Chillest,” which highlights the art of staying calm amid chaos. Other sections, such as “The Comeback Kid,” encourage us to confront resistance and recover with resilience. With a blend of humour, guided visualisations, and reflection, each section provides practical tools to reframe our responses to life’s challenges.
This talk dives into managing self-doubt, accepting setbacks, and using fear as a motivator. Bhante Rakkhita will share steps for embracing change, finding resilience, and moving forward, whether beginning anew or facing uncertainty. Join us to gain renewed insight into resilience, personal growth, and cultivating inner strength.
About the speaker: Bhante Rakkhita Samanera is a dedicated meditation teacher with over 40 years of experience. He was born in the UK, ordained in both Thailand 1986 and in Malaysia 2010. He then travelled extensively and was for quite some time based in the Philippines where, as well as introducing Dhamma, he supported local people in a poverty zone village through fundraising efforts and facilitating access to medical care, then progressing on to teaching Dhamma to Filipino teenagers in a Buddhist Junior High School. Currently living a nomadic monk-life, Bhante Rakkhita has recently been teaching meditation groups in several centres in Perth, naturally visiting Ajahn Brahm at Bodhinyana monastery. He continues his compassionate work by using innovative and therapeutic approaches to the teachings of Buddhism to offer relief from avoidable suffering. A short film of his work in the Philippines can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/
