Continuing from an earlier talk that Robert gave earlier this year on 16 March about the preliminaries to Bodhichitta, part two of Becoming a Bodhisattva will introduce us to the practical aspects of how to develop a genuine mind of enlightenment, Bodhichitta. Following a sequential course of ever-increasing depth, we shall see how a simple act of kindness can be the catalyst for full enlightenment. Far from being a sign of weakness – as seen in an ever-competitive world, compassion provides us with a roadmap to resilience and true inner strength, taken together these qualities offer us the best chance to develop the courage needed to achieve enlightenment both for ourselves and for others. No other act is more admired than that of being kind, no other wish is more important than striving for freedom, with the full potential of our precious human rebirth we can most certainly accomplish both.

“Those who wish to overcome the sorrows of their lives and put to flight the pain and sufferings of beings…should never turn their back on Bodhichitta.” – Shantideva.

About the Speaker: Robert Tomic has been practically involved with Tibetan Buddhism for the past twenty eight years, wherein he has received teachings and empowerments from all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, both in Australia and overseas. For nine and half years Robert has taught (introductory level) Tibetan Buddhism to any and all, whether in people’s homes or in a class room setting, who are genuinely interested to learn and apply the unique fundamental steps that can undo the confusion of living in a seemingly contradictory world. Tibetan Buddhism, even in its simplest form, has the ability to change us into pro-active participants who clearly understand how precious this life is and how fulfilling it can become.
