Maitreya’s Elephant Path provides a stunning depiction of the progression of the nine stages of calm abiding. This map of meditation is a clear outline of how the mind moves from scattered distraction and sleepiness to eventually reaching effortlessly stable attention, unification of mind, and equanimity. The teachings on the Stages of Śamatha (calm abiding) clarify the practice so that anyone can develop focus, calm, clarity, and collectedness. This opens up a powerful sense of alignment between intentions and actions, making all of the meditative path possible.

This session will involve teachings, guided meditation, and discussion.

About the Presenter: Kynan fell into meditation after realising that his mind was obstructing a good life. Getting his head above the waters of burnout, depression, and anxiety, he recognised that the life he had looked good on paper but in experience it was terrible. This led him to decide to start meditating to 1) calm and collect the mind, and 2) seriously question the nature of existence (no big deal!). Years later, with dedicated practice in a number of contemplative traditions and systems, engagement with a range of teachers and communities, and seeing the benefits first-hand, Kynan decided to dedicate his life to supporting others in opening up the freeing possibilities of meditation.
