About the presenter: David was born and raised in Melbourne. After graduating from Law School in 1978 he left Australia and travelled extensively around South East Asia and the Indian sub-continent, developing an interest in eastern religion and meditation along the way. On returning home he began studying Buddhism and soon after moved to Kathmandu where, in 1981, he was ordained a monk in the Tibetan tradition. He then studied at Nalanda Monastery in France for several years before once again travelling east as a teacher of Buddhist philosophy and meditation at Kopan Monastery, Tushita Meditation Centre and Root Institute for Wisdom Culture.
In 1996 he was resident teacher at Vajrayana Institute in Sydney and in 2007 completed a three year appointment as director of Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery in central Victoria.
After 30 years as a monk David returned to lay life in 2012. He remains committed to an intensive daily practice of meditation and continues to teach each year in India and Nepal.
