Many practitioners devote time to study, meditation, and service, yet still find themselves challenged by recurring emotional patterns, difficult relationships, and deeply rooted habits. Why is transformation sometimes more difficult than understanding?
In this session, Sister Sujata draws upon both Buddhist teachings and counselling perspectives to explore the inner work of spiritual growth. We will examine how greater awareness of our thoughts, emotions, conditioning, and blind spots can strengthen Dharma practice and support genuine transformation.
Rather than using the Dharma simply to feel better, we will explore how it can help us see more clearly, relate more wisely to ourselves and others, and cultivate the conditions for lasting inner freedom.
About the Speaker: Sister Sujata is a Singaporean Buddhist nun, counsellor, and Dharma educator dedicated to bringing Buddhist wisdom into contemporary life.
She spent over a decade in Myanmar undergoing monastic training in the Theravāda Buddhist tradition. Over the past two decades, she has also studied and practised under respected teachers from the Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna traditions, cultivating a broad and non-sectarian appreciation of the Buddhist path.
Since returning to Singapore in 2019, Sister Sujata has combined her monastic training with active engagement in the modern world through Dharma teaching, Buddhist-informed counselling, youth development, and community outreach. She is particularly interested in helping people navigate the challenges of contemporary life—including stress, relationships, emotional well-being, purpose, and personal growth—through the lens of Buddhist wisdom.
Known for her warm, practical, and relatable teaching style, Sister Sujata seeks to bridge ancient teachings with modern realities, making the Dharma accessible and relevant to people from all walks of life.
