Welcome to Metta Centre

Metta Centre is a welcoming community that fosters kindness, connection, and spiritual growth through innovative events, global Buddhist teachings, and partnerships—both in Sydney and online.

A CENTRE FOR
SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

Metta Centre is a non-profit organisation, pursuing charitable purposes that advance social welfare and peace within individuals, families, the community, and in the world. We are guided by the principles of Buddhism to do what is good, to avoid what is evil and to purify the mind. We are interested in holistic change for a better inner and outer world. We welcome you to be a part of this change.

About Metta Centre

President’s Invitation

from Founder and President of the Metta Centre, Tina Ng

Metta Centre is a thriving community of people just like you, coming together in friendship and kindness, as we support each other in our journey to more peace, happiness, and wellness. We host renowned speakers from all over the world, representing all major Buddhist traditions, to enrich our community with diverse teachings and perspectives. We are innovative in the kind of events and projects that we organise, to inspire spiritual practice, foster a sense of community, and promote a more compassionate world. We often partner with other Buddhist and non-Buddhist organisations, building invaluable connections and supports for Buddhism to grow. We are based in Sydney, but you can also join us online, or at our interstate and international events. We run purely on the generosity of our volunteers and donors, with the support of many monastics, and with the blessings of the Triple Gems. We invite you to be a part of the growing Metta Centre family!

With inner peace, comes peace of mind

Regular Events

Routine is key to staying on track with our Buddhist practice. Be supported by the guidance of teachers and the friendship of fellow practitioners every week. On Mondays, come to listen to talks from teachers from all over the world; on Tuesdays, relax your body and mind with some mindful yoga; and on Wednesdays, learn and develop your meditation practice.

Videos

Our YouTube channel features recordings of many of our talks, guided meditations, special events, and Temple Spotlight Series.

Books

If you like the touch and feel of paper, we have a wide selection of free Buddhist books that you can collect at our events for free. If you prefer the convenience of eBooks that you can access immediately, check out our sister organisation, Lotus Library, which houses more than 1,400 titles from all the Buddhist traditions.

Suttas

You can read the words of the Buddha as recorded in the early Buddhist Texts with modern translations at SuttaCentral.

Make a tangible difference to people's lives

Metta Hearts

The social welfare arm of Metta Centre supports the underprivileged, such as the homeless and children in foster care.

Volunteer or find professional services

Metta Connections

Metta Connections is an online professional network platform to help connect lay people with Buddhist organisations - to practise right livelihood and give back to the community.

Local and informal Buddhist spaces

Dhamma Lighthouses

Metta Centre connects visiting monastics with lay people who wish to offer all or part of their homes or business premises to support monastics and Buddhist practitioners to stay temporarily, and offer opportunities for their local community to offer Dana and listen to the Dhamma.

Have a Question?

Ask a Buddhist

Our “Ask a Buddhist” program features a panel of Buddhist monastics and lay practitioners who responds to questions from the community. If you have a question about Buddhism, your practice, or just have someone to talk to, we can connect you to a fellow Buddhist who may be able to help you through it.
