Metta Convention
What Is the Metta Convention?
The Metta Convention brings together respected Buddhist teachers from around the world, honouring the depth and diversity of the Buddhist traditions. United by the spirit of metta, the Metta Convention offers a unique opportunity to experience Buddhism as a living, shared heritage—deep, relevant, and accessible to all.
At a time when people are seeking meaning, connection, and clarity, the Metta Convention serves as a vibrant meeting place for learning, dialogue, and practice. It strengthens the Buddhist presence in the wider community while nurturing harmony and mutual respect within it.
Through Metta Conventions, we are able to:
Honour the monastic Sangha and Buddhist traditions, recognising their essential role in preserving and transmitting the Dhamma
Inspire faith and the transformative power of dāna (generosity) by offering the event freely, made possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and sponsors
Uphold non-sectarianism, respecting the distinct practices of different Buddhist traditions while celebrating the values and teachings they share
Build meaningful connections between temples, teachers, monastics, and lay practitioners
Train and support volunteers in new skills and in joyful, skilful service rooted in the Dhamma
Create opportunities for the lay community to participate in meritorious deeds, including hosting visiting monastics
Promote Buddhist teachers, temples, and organisations, helping the Dhamma flourish now and into the future
The Metta Convention is more than a conference—it is a collective act of generosity, learning, and goodwill, dedicated to harmony within the Buddhist community and the wellbeing of all beings.
